Sakura Festival is a two-years cultural date born by an idea of Grazia Guberti, which recalls the visit to Ferrara of a japanese group of emperial heralds that took place in the year 1585. These far east men had been extremely fascinated by the uses and culture of the Este family and by the city of Ferrara, which court was one of the most liberal and civilized all over europe. So, the fair wants to celebrate the meeting of two most different cultures through some happenings and the presence of artisanal manifacturing products both from Japan and from the territory of Ferrara. This year, among many events, we hosted theatrical and musical performances, Japanese art demonstrations as calligraphy (Shodo), flower composition (Ikebana), the traditional Kimono dressing. People could try to shoot with traditional ancient bows and shiatsu massage, eat tipical local food and see in person hand made manifacturing products.
